Access to the legacy EGEInvoicing SQL Server database
EGKits tenant database connection or Secure Migration API credentials
Network connectivity to source and target systems
Local Administrator rights to install the MSI and register the sync service
Installation
Before you install
Confirm SQL connectivity to the legacy database and the EGKits target (or API endpoint).
Identify the EGKits tenant identifier that must be stamped on migrated rows.
Plan a dry-run window before any production cutover.
Decide which entities need one-time migration vs ongoing scheduled sync.
Install
Download the official MSI for your PC architecture from this page (x64 recommended).
Run the installer (or msiexec /i EGKits.LegacyMigrator-{version}-win-x64.msi /qn /norestart).
Accept the installation terms and complete the wizard.
The installer registers the EGKitsLegacyMigratorSync Windows service (auto-start).
Launch EGKits Migration Platform from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut.
After install
Open the app and create a connection profile for legacy and target databases.
Use Test connection / Test target before mapping or synchronizing.
Configure schedules on the Schedules page; the Windows service runs due jobs automatically.
Profiles live under %APPDATA%\EGKits\LegacyMigrator; schedules and service logs under %ProgramData%\EGKits\LegacyMigrator.
Configuration
Load tenants from the platform registry database or paste a direct target connection string.
Map legacy organisation ids to EGKits CompanyCodes / Branches.
Review Options (placeholder catalogue rows, orphaned line-tax attachment) before a production run.
On Schedules, set frequency (minutes, hours, daily, weekly) and incremental scope.
Optional: edit appsettings.json next to the service exe to change poll interval or default profile name.
Troubleshooting
If a profile was copied from another PC, re-enter passwords (DPAPI is machine/user bound).
Unmapped organisations block documents — complete Mapping and re-run preflight.
Use Dry run and the failure report to fix data issues before a live Start.
If scheduled sync does not run, confirm the EGKitsLegacyMigratorSync service is Running in services.msc.
Check %ProgramData%\EGKits\LegacyMigrator\service-logs for background sync errors.
Upgrade
Download the newer MSI for the same architecture you already installed.
Run the new MSI. Windows Installer replaces the previous version in place (same UpgradeCode).
Connection profiles, schedules, checkpoints, and logs under AppData / ProgramData are preserved.
The sync service is stopped for the file replace, then started again automatically.
Uninstallation
Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Control Panel → Programs and Features).
Select EGKits Migration Platform and choose Uninstall. Confirm the UAC prompt.
Silent: msiexec /x {ProductCode} /qn /norestart (or msiexec /x the original MSI).
Profiles and logs under %APPDATA%\EGKits\LegacyMigrator and %ProgramData%\EGKits\LegacyMigrator are kept so you can reinstall without losing work. Delete those folders only if you want a clean slate.
